AYEM

Commissioned by Hajer Azzouz for L’Agora cultural center

Year: 2015

Location: La Marsa, Tunisia

Rand El Haj Hasan’s fountain pen was her only means to draw her way through her days. Yet, the production issued from a single line has no limits. Designer and curator Hajer Azzouz came across Rand’s daily routine and immediately made the decision to embark on a project of exhibiting such days and so “Ayem” (“Days”) took place.

The Tunisian curator recognized something in Rand’s work which relates to the Tunisian school and to the likes of Abdelaziz Gorgi and Zoubai Turki. Hence, La Marsa in Tunisia was the perfect place to host Rand El Haj Hasan’s first solo exhibit.
